Michès Playa Esmeralda REPÚBLICA DOMINICANA

We spent a fantastic week in Club Med Michès Playa Esmeralda, and it was our third time in this village — and still, it is never enough! We were 2 adults and 2 kids (9 and 11 years old).

Overall Experience

Miches is truly an amazing part of the Dominican Republic, surrounded by untouched jungle and lush vegetation. Compared to Punta Cana, where the Club Med site is beautiful but more open and less green — here you really feel immersed in nature.
It’s not the classic turquoise Caribbean Sea but a north-eastern Atlantic coast of the Dominican Republic. The water is not always crystal turquoise, but you can enjoy a calm beach on one side and water sports, and if you walk a little to the right, you get real ocean waves which fascinate both kids and adults!

GO Team & Village Atmosphere

Thanks to the excellent Chef de Village, Theo, we truly experienced the real Club Med spirit. Everyone was smiling, friendly, supportive, and fun! The atmosphere is one of the main reasons we choose Club Med over other hotels, and here it was absolutely outstanding.
Theo is honestly one of the best Chiefs of the Village we’ve had in many years. What makes him special is not only how much he cares about the GMs (guests) but also how much he cares about his team. That’s true leadership.
A special mention to Florianne, his assistant, who acted as Chef de Village for two days. An excellent manager, full of energy and genuine care for both the team and guests. I’m sure she will become a Chef de Village very soon, and it will be 100% deserved! She will be an excellent one!

Reception & Guest Relations

We were welcomed like royalty!
Alain, Yara (who remembered our kids’ names from our previous visit — incredible!), and Alejandro were amazing.
A special word for Alejandro: you cannot imagine better service and care. The only “problem” now is that we may be spoiled and will struggle to find the same level of Guest Relations GO elsewhere! And on top of that - he’s an excellent dancer!

Accommodation – La Perla Suite

We were lucky to stay in the La Perla Suite, and I highly recommend it.
Huge space, 2 bathrooms, a large living room separating parents’ and kids’ rooms, very appreciated 😉 Direct beach access, private loungers, and a terrace. A small but very important detail: a private beach shower at the entrance to clean the sand from your feet.
The suite is in a quiet area: no animation noise, yet very close to restaurants and bars (one directly on the beach and another at the private La Perla pool). The room was cleaned twice a day. Absolutely excellent experience.

Restaurants & Bars

The food was very varied. Even if you’re picky, you’ll always find something fresh, tasty, and beautifully presented. We could really feel the difference compared to other Clubs.
The only thing slightly average was the desserts, but honestly, considering everything we ate, maybe that was actually a good thing 😉 Less temptation!
Bars were fast, smiling, and professional with excellent cocktails.

• Ahmet (ask him to show you some circus tricks at the bar 😉).

Sports & Activities

Another big reason we choose Club Med!
We did morning walking, aquagym, fitness classes, Zumba, and trapeze. The team is excellent: Alan, Annabelle, and of course Mary — if you want to work hard on your body, she’s the one, and she’s also an amazing dancer! And of course, Chef of Sports Max (Mister Z 😉), who delivered fantastic aqua gym sessions.
The circus team, supervised by Maiyilis, was outstanding in terms of security and professionalism!
Dance classes with Naya and Edward were incredible. Even those with “two left feet” can dance with them! Step by step, and in 30 minutes, you’re dancing confidently.

Kids & Teens Clubs
Our son joined Mini Club (9–10 years old), and our daughter loved the Teens Club (11–13).
Our advice — especially for shy or less confident teens — push them gently to go for the first time ( I saw several teens who spent their week with their parents :( ). After one try, they’ll have the best vacation of their lives (our daughter’s exact words!).
Matthew from Mini Club and Quintin from Teens are the best! Quintin spoke to our daughter on the first evening (three hours after we arrived in the village) and 5 seconds later, we had basically “lost” our girl for a week (the girl who was saying a minute before that: “I am not sure I will find any friends here” 😉😉😉

Shows & Entertainment

Every evening, the staff who make your days wonderful: from bars, mini club, sports, etc., perform high-level shows. Don’t miss them!
They dance like professionals. The circus team participates in each show with breathtaking performances. You wanted Cirque du Soleil? Here you go!
And for those who (like us) are crazy about Club Med crazy signs, you’ll have plenty! Even longer and better performed than in other clubs. One evening is entirely dedicated to them.
You want to see the Chief of the Village in the Sky! Theo (CDV) is there for you!
Despina from SPA was absolutely shining and animating the majority of events with a smile and joy!

❤️ Final Words
You can see our feedback is extremely positive and full of excitement. It’s not always the case. On the one hand, we are easygoing, but when something isn’t right, we do always say it (being French, we do love to complain sometimes, haha😄).

But honestly?
This was a perfect week, a perfect Club, and a perfect team who turned our vacation into a dream.
We will definitely come back.

It was our first time staying at Club Med Michès with my teenage daughter.
We absolutely loved everything there! The food was top-notch — crab night, foie gras, delicious desserts.

The room was big, the bed was comfy, and the linens were crisp. Luckily, we didn’t have any mosquitoes.

We were sad that our flight was cancelled and we had to stay one night less. But we are definitely coming back!

A big shout-out to an amazing young lady — Iara from Portugal. Such a sweet and helpful person. We wish her the very best with Club Med!

Club Med Miches took good care of us in a beautiful location with great rooms, activities, and food. Thank you to Iara and Agla at reception for being helpful and friendly. The Mini-Club staff is enthusiastic, kind, positive, and hard working, especially Betchina, Guy-Harry, Wideline, Hoodtina, Princess Coco, Severine and Matthew. Killian is an amazing leader and performer, as is Loren! The kids show was awesome. Maxime is an all-star GO - ahead of time, friendly, and taking care of details - even in the rain. We loved Welfin and Paola on the waitstaff - so friendly and attentive. The tennis and yoga programs and facilities were superior to other Club Meds. Thank you for a wonderful vacation.

The resort is beautiful and the staff are perpetually working to keep it that way, The rooms are well-designed for families and still feel relatively new. The resort doesn’t feel enormous, which is good because it never feels like you have too far to walk.

Regarding the kids’ and baby club, the staff are all wonderful, but especially Enola (who watched over my 5 month old) and Elsa (who was with my 5 year old). The pajama club offers a great option for babysitting if parents want to have dinner without the kids.

The food was the biggest surprise. I never have super high expectations when it comes to the food at an all inclusive, so I was really surprised at how good everything was. Certainly the best “buffet” style food I’ve ever had. My wife and I wondered if the standards had to be higher to cater to the largely French guests who are used to a higher standard of cuisine than North Americans.

The only thing about the trip that was less than ideal was outside the control of Club Med: it rained most of the time we were there.
