Beautiful Club Med Gregolimano
Getting to Club Med Gregolimano from Athens airport is a bit of a journey due to the nearly two hour transfer from the airport to the pier and another 35 to 45 minute ferry ride from the pier to the resort. So, all in all, it took about 2.5 to 3 hours to reach the resort after you board the shuttle from the airport.
Upon arrival to the resort I was greeted by Amelia and Vivienne and given a brief tour and shown to my room. The room is spacious and had a balcony with an ocean view (Olympie section).
The main restaurant was very busy during my week's stay as I think the resort was near capacity. I and other GM's had to look for seating on many of those days. There was nothing that I thought was exceptional for the food being served. I wish they served the prawns with the head and shell removed as it was quite messy to eat. However, the pasta bar which cooked the pasta perfectly, every time. The dessert team also put out delicious desserts. Strangely, bananas were only available in the morning and sliced pineapples only during lunch. The fresh orange juice machine was only out in the morning and was a bit finicky.
The service and food at the a la carte restaurant were impeccable. Much more relaxed atmosphere there.
Anthony the tennis coach was very friendly and a good coach. Mathieu at the tennis hut was very cheerful and super outgoing. Even got to get a selfie with Jo Wilfred Tsonga who happened to drop by during my second week at this resort. Both tennis and padel were very popular at this resort
The sailing team with Briac and Sergio were super knowledgeable and predicted a sudden gusty wind change and warned us to come back immediately when we saw this change happening. They were right with the timing and boy was I lucky to get my catamaran back to the beach! Other than that one day, the sailing was very good.
I had a friend who really enjoyed the waterskiing but wondered why the wakeboarding or the slalom/advanced waterskiing docks aren't covered to give some shade while waiting for their turn.
I would also suggest that the main bar get proper shot glasses and not serve tequila in 2 oz paper cups. Otherwise the bartenders were very quick and efficient.
I took the Meteora excursion to see the monasteries on top of hills and was not disappointed with the beauty, majesty and art work of these monasteries. However, note that it takes about 3 hours of travel (45 minute by ferry and just over 2 hours by bus) to get there. So, bring some tunes and maybe a pillow.
As an English speaker, I had no language barrier issues at this resort.
I met Jeremy, CDV, when I dined in the a la carte restaurant and from that day on, he always greeted me when our paths crossed. He was even the highlight of the "Gregolimashow"!
